Bell TV and Internet

Hi there,

Signed up with Bell TV and internet via The Source. Should really have researched a bit more before signing up as not entirely happy with first bill (promised discounts not included, extra fees included for other things not discussed). Is there a cooling off period with such contracts?

Note to self.....research, research, research....

Normally there is a cooling off period. Read your small print. Cancelled Bell Tv & telephone two years ago. Crap content and needles expense. Was costing me $200 a month. Now I stream or download everything I want to watch and use Skype for the telephone service. Saves me $150 a month.:)

Or watch CBC Marketplace report on Bell.

Contact them. Everytime I sign up with anyone, discounts don't appear and I have to chase. Eventually they are applied.

Yip - Chase them up for it and kick up a bit - Bell are famous for ommitting some of the discounts that were originally agreed

I agree. I bundled Bell TV with a cell phone plan and it took 18 months to get the discount applied. Was even told that just because I saw a promotion in the store window, it didn't mean I should assume I was entitled to it. My interactions with that company are known as Bell Hell.

The property we've bought completes on September 14th and the cable company (nexicom) is scheduled to have the cable laid and live at the end of October.

I was looking at using Bell satellite from when we move in for TV and Broadband and VOIP phone (Vonage) when it goes live end of October.

Is there another Satellite TV provider available (Ontario) as from what I've read on here I'm not impressed with bell and I've not even signed up with them yet :)

We've since looked at Cogeco....seems like they're better but best to check all the pros and cons of each provider before making a hasty decision.....hindsight and all that.....:o

Big +1 as far as Bell are concerned. I have fibre op bundle for TV Internet and home phone and had to tear them a new one more than once but they learned lol

Id advise to take internet with acanac or similar, ISP's that have no download caps.

Then subscribe to unotelly.com netfilx.ca and hulu.com and forget Bell tv and the like

Looks very interesting but when I googled Acanac I came across a review website. Was interesting reading with loads of people complaining about them. Now not sure

Anyone got good things to say about them?

I had a bad experience with Velcom but heard good things about teksavvy
unfortunately it also depends where you live and in what state the phone infrastructure is, in the end all those isp's are renting from BELL anyway :-)

We're in Burlington, On. Goodness, we didn't think it would be so complicated! All the review sites are a mixture of either satisfied or fuming customers for most of the providers, so it's hard to make a decision.....

All I can say is avoid getting into a long term contract.

Go month to month, same thing for cell phone etc.

Web, phone & TV cost a fortune in Canada....
