As I recently said on another thread on a similar subject. Imho the BBC belong to that select group of dinosaurs now languishing in the elephants graveyard of those reluctant to change. You know those proud puffed out executives in the 1990's who said that advertising on the internet would never work, or those newspaper execs who said people will never go for reading their news on a computer on this thing called the internet!!

The BBC currently hide behind the veil of alleged copyright issues - all issues which could be easily resolved.

Embarking on this 'holy grail' or 'evangelical mission' as someone else described it to attempt to 'lockup' their service/product is surely shortsightedness on their part as well as being a fools mission! When they finally realize that they could actually turn a healthy profit from the demand that is there it will be too late.

Again, imho they will be forced to change or go out of business or become as insignificant as other public broadcasting networks - think PBS.

Sadly, they will probably choose the latter through incompetence and resistance to change driven by poor management and a dogmatic mindset. Think the same mentality that lost them 'TopGear' to Amazon. An incident which if handled with appropriate sophistication could have been easily resolved for the benefit of all parties involved.

I can and did this morning already. It really depends on how much you want it. If your need/want is substantial you need a good VPN or follow BristolUK’s advice in previous posts.

Agreed But I think it was still handled poorly from a purely $$ making proposition.

I agree, very silly decisions. Maybe the programme W1A has more than a grain of truth in it.

All working in our gaff.

We're watching more BBC and Five than Canadian crud at the moment. Mainly documentaries and fly-on-the-wall stuff.

Strange. I've just looked and you get 2 minutes free then have to pay!
I use TVCatchup - Channels , free , no VPN needed. OK limited range of UK channels but has all the main ones.

Maybe they introduced another site. Somewhere back a bit - this thread or another - I said something like FilmOn in its many forms. I've seen at least three - one was a different name but obviously them.

When the 2 minute thing first appeared, someone posted a filmon link where the limit wasn't there, but it very soon started appearing. It's probably like when it appeared originally and was free to drum up use and then introduced the charge.

Recommendations for VPNs in the UK, free or cheap to bounce traffic through? Also for secure internet from public wifi?

Replated, since a UK VPN should solve the UK TV thing too.

BBC Iplayer doesn't seem to be working using the HMA VPN? Anyone else using HMA successfully?

Thumbs down Re: bbc iplayer

PureVPN says it no longer offers support for customers trying to access iPlayer, as the BBC has taken countermeasures that are not easily defeated. I am assured that they are continuing to work on a solution, however. Might be time to see if I can get a refund and switch to something like TVMucho...
