Default Banking and house renting

Hi,

For those who have been renting their houses or going to rent their houses and move to Canada. How do you arrange the tranfer of your rent money from UK to Canada? Barclay told us that we have to be in the UK to be able to tranfer the money to our account in Canada, is it true? I have no knowledge about this, there must be other options? Could anyone share pleaseee.. Thanks

Hi there.

We're just having the rent paid into our Natwest account here (the same account the mortgage goes out of). I've checked with Natwest and they don't have any problem with me being abroad with these transactions continuing. That said I'm not planning on transferring any remainder overseas - the rent covers the mortgage but there isn't a huge amount left over at the end of the month.

Hi HLKG,
Thanks for your reply. in my case, we don't have any mortgage now. so we are going to tranfer all the money to our overseas account from time to time. I wonder if we could do that with other banks as Barclay doesnt seem to help.

Most members of this forum use foreign exchange specialists like HiFX, Moneycorp, XE, Custom House. If you do a search for any of those words, you'll find lots of previous discussion threads.

In addition to that, there's a Wiki article called Transferring Money from the UK to Canada.
