Have you read the relevant Wiki article? I could be wrong, but I though there was a list in it of the banks who would allow you to open an account from the UK?

And the 'newbies' sticky thread (link in my signature) is well worth a read.
Good luck.

There are about three banks that do Immigrant Packages, whereby you can set them up online. You do need to visit a branch in person with all your documents though before they start issuing cheque books, cash cards etc... as well as being able to start withdrawing money. However...you cannot do any of this unless you have a Canadian address.

Vancouver has a reputation of being wet. They measure the rainfall in millimeters a year. In Prince Rupert they measure the rainfall in meters per year.

We've set ourselves up with moneycorp , they are helping us with our Canadian bank account also transferring our money from the UK which they don't charge you for.

Hmmmph! We are using Moneycorp and they're not helping us with bank accounts! LOL
I understand that Royal Bank of Canada have immigrant packages, whereby you can open a bank account before you land. Also, to drop 'money transferred' cash in to. You do need to provide a Canadian address to do this though, which is pants! We fly over on 4th May, so have given the address of the short-term rental.
