Use the BBQ It works. Put the burners on one side and cook on the other.

I had the same problem when we first moved across, i burnt so much stuff i thought i had lost all my cooking abilities. As soon as we had our own place and could afford it we brought a European style conventional cooker (Bosch) and i love it.
We had to replace all the appliances eventually because they just did not function like we were used to back in England.

I wouldn't really want a massive kitchen because you spend all your time walking up and down to get things out of cupboards and more cupboards means more room to store tat! However, I would LOVE more work surface. It's almost dangerous in this kitchen at the moment when you don't have a place to put hot pans because the plates take up all the room!

I knew that pokey thing had a proper name.....skewer....much better!
I think I prefer "pokey thing"

I'm looking forward to having 'normal' appliances again.....it's so frustrating wasting good food when it just doesn't cook well. There was a thread on here earlier this month about why women feel more homesick than men and a chap said it's because women can't get used to the cookers. Yep, that'll go some way towards it!

It does sound better, I grant you, but walking into Canadian Tire and asking for a 'pokey thing' may get me carted off.....
