The Winnipeg store www.ragingbrit.com has just moved to 1919 Portage Ave. They are receiving a large load of new stock in Mid-August.

It's true - you DO get used to them and stop whinging...lol I hated them at first, then when I went back to England (after ten years) and had them there, I thought they were bland as hell! YUK! I'm a convert!

The Branston pickle I buy here (in Real Canadian Superstore) USED to be imported from the UK and was exactly the same. Last jar I bought tasted quite different. On closer inspection I saw it was made in the US! Won't be buying that anymore!

Yes it's true. Nor can you buy chips, Yorkshire puddings, meat and tater pies, mushy peas, kebabs, curry, black pudding, or sausages. Gravy does not exist nor does cheap cheese (note the border crossing cheese smuggling scandal), chicken is scarce, scrawny at best, and beer tastes awful.

Keep away, Canada is not for the faint of heart ! If you can't slaughter an animal, skin and gut it, cook it on an open fire and eat it without cutlery, nakpins and fine crockery...and your immigration consultant should've advised you about the beans issue, jeez there's even an official CIC handout list of all 'items to worry about'....beans is there at #2 right after flip flops.

KEEP AWAY !

Rich.

I also found this shop in Scarbrough, Ontario which I was quite excited about when I discovered it! I had my first packet of Walkers' crisps in quite some months, and I also found my beloved Ready Brek! They do a few Marks and Spencers' bits in there too, plus I am hoping they can get me some Nescafe Gold Blend. Instant coffee is just not the same over here.

Ah...the pink warm teat of the motherland...all warm wooly comforting blankets for Brits abroad, innit.

Instant coffee ? Who in the hell'd drink that muck, Satans very own floor sweepings, full of sweat, lice and dried scabs. Fresh coffee, pref ground, every time. Instant coffee is below redneck, man even rednecks got standards.

Rich.

Look at you being all posh LOL you cant beat instant coffee so my hubby tells me im caffiene intolerant.

As for that shop in Scarborough I know the one you mean, just a word of warning check the best before dates, they were at the British Show this year and nearly all their marks stuff was out of date including their lemon curd made with eggs!!!

Redneck is one thing I have never been called before; how charming!! ha ha

Actually, sometimes I cannot be bothered when I am rushing out the door in the morning to wait for the filter coffee to brew so my lovely gold blend is a good quick alternative.

Agreed re. the dates at Mrs. Bridge's - although I love the Ready Brek and Ambrosia rice puds I got, my packet of Chipsticks had a small hole in the front and were disappointingly stale when I got them home :-(

The sauce is virtually the same...the beans are softer...but they are good! :D :D
Ingredients! White Beans, water, tomatoe puree, sugar, salt, spices, onion powder and garlic...no molasses! ....enjoy! ;)
