Hi All,
I will be moving to Vancouver and at that time I will be holding my driver license in Hong Kong (full privilege) for less than 3 months.
It seems that I need to attend the ever-lasting GLP to get licensed (from ICBC website). But at which point exactly will I be in the GLP?
It will be ridiculous if I were just issued a Class 7L license given that I am holding a full-privilege driver's license in Hong Kong. I will be grateful if they can issue me Class 7N license.
Added to the issue is that it is IMPRACTICAL to attend the GLP from the beginning coz I will be working in Canada for just around 1 year!
By the way, is there any problem to own a 2nd-hand vehicle if I only get a 7N license? I know the insurance will be high (not so high compared to Hong Kong), but apart from that will there be any other issues?
I am 22 BTW.
Thanks.

All the info you need is on the ICBC web site. If you need a definitive answer, best to give ICBC a call. They will be the ones who decide, however as you are a new driver it could go either way, but most likely an 'N'.
Use the forum search and you'll get a plethora of threads on the subject.

So, does that mean I'll be getting a Class 7N license instead of L?
If that's true, that will be good enough coz I just drive myself or with a friend only. (Possibly getting a MX-5, coz there are just 2 seats!)
I can't phone ICBC becoz I'm in Hong Kong which is in TZ GMT+8...
