my son bought a hockey stick from Canadian Tire and it was left at the cashiers desk for us to pick up. However we were able to carry his newly sharpened skates through the store with no probs.

That happens to me every time. Especially annoying when I have no time to spare and a frustrated baby in tow. Dartmouth Crossing Crappy Tire are specialists at that

Wipeout is my favourite guilty pleasure. Absolutely laugh out loud funny. Not just the people smacking themselves in the face when they fall off stuff, but the hosts sarcastic banter and smirking.

A couple of years ago while we were out on a recce trip we popped into Canadian Tire and I was accosted by a bloke who shoved a 'Free Gift Bag' into my hands then proceded to ask for my name and address for a survey; not being prepared for this I just politely said that I didn't live here yet so couldn't give him any information (normally I would have made something up).

He then whipped the bag out of my hand and said 'Sorry, you can't have that then!' I just looked at him incredulously, shook my head and laughed.

Totally bizarre behaviour.

I have a grand total of $17 dollars in canadian tire money - I really have no idea what it's for if you can't use it to buy psycho apparel.

We have never seen the point, big waste of paper. Why don't they just use clubcards like everyone else?

Canadian tire money seems to be a cultural thing - maybe they should allow it to be used to renew your PR card or apply for citizenship.

That's a very good idea.

By the time the CIC gets back to you, you could afford to pay for it all.

They opened the cupboard.. told me that I could not have the knife until I had exited the shop for..."safety reasons???" they then escorted me to the cashier carrying the knife securely in some Lord of the Rings type fashion as though if they gave me it I would suddenly disappear and placed it with the cashier. Once I had payed for it I was escorted to the door and given my knife.

Now that experience was pretty wierd but today I went into the same shop and purchased a 8lb axe with a polished and extremely sharp edge. I walked down the shop with my axe across my chest and with that Jack Nichelson 'Heeeeers Johny" look on my face and guess what???
Not so much as a raised eyebrow from anyone. No escort and not even a look of mild fear from the cashier...........amazing

Anyone else had a wierd experience like that??
You should try working there it is totally weird!

The reason you were escorted with the knife is because it is a smaller item that could be hidden about your person. Company policy is for the item to be 'walked' to the cashier. I have never heard of the walked to the door, suspect someone is being over zealous, an amazing thing to find in a CT store......

The axe cannot be so easily hidden!
