Dear all experts,

I applied for asylum in the United States two years before. But my file is on pending because of huge backlog in the INS. In the meanwhile, i decided to apply for PR in Canada and so applied last September.

I have learnt that now the immigration system of US and Canada are very linked. So, how would it affect me? I am expecting the initial assessment result in one month.

As per my understanding (I may be wrong) but you can work until your Asylum
application is decided.

So what advantage do u get to come to canada as a PR.

Dear Mr. Miller,

You may think that way and it is understandable. But, if i am granted PR, I am coming to Canada even if my asylum is granted in the US. So, please suggest me if my application for asylum in the US will have any effect on my candidacy for permanent residency there in Canada.
