Does anyone have an indication of how much inhalers cost in Toronto?

Do you need a prescription or can you buy without? Would I need to go to the GP for a prescription each time I needed a top up?

Which inhalers? Ventolin doesn't cost much but I can't recall the exact amount and yes you do need a prescription though the original script can include repeats.

Think I paid around $35 for Ventolin. Advair cost over $200.

Ventolin. So $35 a month, is that all in for one inhaler?

Luckily it's the only prescription drug I use otherwise it could become quite costly

My doctor obtains free samples when possible for Advair for me, that damn thing is pricey.

I doubt they will be able to do so in future, GSK is now pushing its successor, Breo and these samples will only last 2 weeks- Advair could go generic but no one has started making a generic version of them. The lower dose of Breo is around $80 per month.

Yes...but you will need a script from a doctor. The script could include refills.

My brother had this awhile back when he was using inhalers. The GP would write a prescription that included a certain number refills, depending how often she wanted him to come in for a check-up (he was in his teens with sports-induced asthma) so he didn't have to keep going back to get new prescriptions from her.

Might be worth mentioning the cost of seeing a GP if you are not covered by OHIP. I pay $90 but a nearby doctor charges $70 per visit...that's downtown Toronto. It may be cheaper outside the city.

If I have to pay for a doctor's appointment I'll have to save up my ailments to get my moneys worth
