I am wondering how long this ArriveCan and testing idiocy is going to end.
The UK is far ahead on this, stopping all testing and form filling and filing procedures by now.

Covid tests will no longer be required from 1 April, but ArriveCan is still required. 🤬

This CBC article doesn't mention anything about ArriveCan.

Probably around forever considering it was in place before COVID but just at one terminal at Pearson. Now if it replaces that stupid form you have/had to fill in and NOT fold then that would be marvellous.

I presumed that was the intent because they now have all the machines at Terminal 1 too so there shouldn’t be the need for the paper - you just flash your QR code instead. I arrived back in July 2020 having completed the app but had to fill in the paper document at Pearson because I don’t think they had the machines at that time.

I wonder if anybody knows the amount of travellers in Canada who do not own a smart phone/device so would be unable to use ArriveCAN? I am sure the odd person living in Fort Frances/Windsor and a few other places who just want to visit a relative for the day or fill up with gas are somewhat disgruntled.

At YYZ T3 they don't use the machines. It's the original cardboard card again now. In any case, the machines only print the same form as one fills in on cardboard. The rest of the process is the same; it's just that the machine printed forms are more legible but taste worse.

I wondered if you went back to the cardboard so as to covertly capture dental imprints. Travelers now need their passports again after clearing the arrival hall, people are going to need huge mouths!

I was brought up with a telephone with a dial to make a call and whilst I have adapted - those phones were not very mobile - I am less confident about using my smart phone for anything other than calls, texts and the odd email. I am much less confident with apps such as banking, border stuff like ArriveCan, proof of vaccination etc., not to mention the security angle if the phone were stolen or lost.
I found that in BC, I can use a computer to see my health records but to register, I have to down-load the app first on my phone!!!
And they keep going on about inclusiveness. Don't make me laugh.

It's not just that aspect but the push to make everything 'appy.

We both have iPhones but ArriveCn wouldn’t accept our application on either phone. Hubby must have tried 20 times the previous day, again that morning and when we arrived at the airport. We went to the airline check in desk, but was told we could not get on the plane without it. I then tried on my iPad and it went through. Don’t know what we would have done had we only had our phones.
