Default Applying for jobs

Hi i know its incredibly hard to secure a job whilst in the UK for Canada but.....
Before applying for a job do we need obtain the necessary approvals from the immigration department prior to applying for any position with a Canadian company?
Or do they do all this if we are successful?

How do get a temp work permit with no job offer (not possible is it??)

Its all quite confusing

Thanks guys

No, need job offer to get TWP.

Process is as follows I believe.....

1.) Find a job and employer willing to sponsor.....

2.) Employer applies for Larbour Market Opinion.....

3.) Employer sends formal offer of employment and copy of LMO report to yourself...

4.) You apply for TWP with the above documents....

You can apply for PR at the same time, but from what I have read this can actually delay the TWP because of the contradiction between the two....

The wiki at the top has all this info, but I understand its easy to get lost in the vast amount of info it offers.....

Hope this helps.

As above; you can also apply for the TWP at the point of entry as long as you have a valid job offer and LMO (much quicker than applying via post)

Apply for PR after you land

good luck!

If you're more entrepreneurial you can also secure a TWP by starting your own business.

Oooh crikey, i wonder if we can pick up our newly started (2 months)company here and bring it over there?

Too scary for me that way

We have emailed lots of companies and awaiting the scary emails haha. We have one reply so far, not bad considering we only sent it 2 hours ago!! They seem quite interested so fingers crossed!!

Just remember Matt, there are two main ways of securing a job.

1.) Applying for jobs and following up with a phone call

or

2.) Phoning potential companies to enquire and emailing you "resume" upon request.

Whichever you choose, the phoning is VERY important from what I understand. Canadians love to connect on a more personal level apparently. Read the Quick Job Hunting Guide in the wiki for more info.
