Hey guys i was wondering is it a waste of time to apply for any job in Canada or is it just specialised jobs that allow you to enter?

Being a bit more specific may help, what is it that you do?

I do not have a specialised job although i have worked in housing for many years but is it a waste of time even trying to get unskilled work in Canada?

I was going to tell you about the 12-month working holiday visa that you can get through BUNAC up to the age of 30, but then I saw in another thread that you were 38.

Suggest you read the BE Wiki articles on:
I don't like your chances of getting a job in Canada in advance of your arrival here or your chances of being admitted to live and work in Canada. But I also must tell you that I have made that judgement about members of this forum in the past and sometimes have been proven wrong.

So, if you are serious about going for it, by all means give it a try. If that's what you want to do, I still think the above mentioned articles would be useful to you.

The battle will be convincing Human Resources and Social Development Canada that they (your future employer) have been unable to recruit a Canadian for the job and need to get you over from the UK.
If they can do this you'll be OK.
