Sorry about all these posts people but there will be a lot more before we get our visa believe me!
Anyway my question today is, if our application is in and has been for a number of months what do we do if my hubbie gets a job offer does he have to resubmit his application with the hrdc job offer or can it be added to the existing one.
It's just from what I have heard is the High Commision dont take kindly to any sort of messing about with applications.
Also does anybody have any info on paying consultants to get the job offer as I believe there are a number of people willing to do this?
By the way we dont have the job offer we were just wondering
Cheers
Remember don't wait for your ship to come in! swim out to meet the bloody thing!

Hi there
I would apply for a work permit and leave the Immigration application alone so as not to slow things down.

Hmmm - I got the impression that if you let them know you have a job they will push your PR application through faster. Also, I remember seeing somewhere you're not supposed to have several visas going at the same time. Plus a work visa is only temporary, you would not be given automatic right to a PR unless you can arrange a change of status from one to the other. Therefore I reckon, (but my opinion only!), that you'd be better letting the high commission know about the job offer, and get the PR papers processed faster. Eeks - you've got 2 different opinions so guess that doesn't help matters much - sorry!

I have provincial nomination and was told ( By Immigration ) that if a job offer came up while my app. was going thro' I should apply for a work permit as this wouldn't hold things up.
I also remember that because I have nomination that I wouldn't be taking a job off of a Canadian and so the permit would go thro' faster.
sorry for any confusion caused !
I was also told that work permits and Immigration are two differrent departments and they don't talk to each other,
So you would have to have a mini-medical for the work permit.
anyway best of luck

Thinking about it - I guess we're being told different things is because the Manitoba scheme prefers applicants to have job offer first whereas if I remember rightly the Sask one doesn't so maybe it would have made more sense to let them know if we had a job in our case but not necessarily in yours. Confused? Me too!!

Hi Goatee - I like your wandering eye!
Just wondering though guys and gals out there - has anyone else had experience of being offered a job whilst waiting for PR either through provincial or national scheme - I'm dying to find out what the answer is!

I've been desperate to find the answer so went digging in the immigration section of this forum where there's a similar discussion http://britishexpats.com/forum/showt...ight=job+offer
It seems that it is OK to apply for temp. work permit even when PR is going through (as long as there's a HRDC approved job offer) and a temp. visa is much quicker. I can't quite understand the purpose of gaining more points for a job offer for PR - it would make more sense for people to be approved for temp. permit, move over temporarily and then apply for change of status to PR once they're in. Obviously, without a job offer, applying for PR does make sense as it means you can apply for jobs without having to go for labour certification (which is what we're doing) but the whole idea of obtaining more points for job offer makes no sense if the process takes much longer than a temp. permit process would (if you get my point!!
) Well confusing!!

Thanks very much crazy it is still a minefield of if and buts and it looks as if I may have that job offer and we are going to go on the temp work permit and let the PR application run its course the only weird thing is you have to come back to England just to fly back to canada with the PR visas.
Anyway thanks for the help

Just read this,
you don't have to go back to the UK to get your PR visa once you are in Canada working with a temp work permit. We came here on temp work permit, Partner got offered a job, and then we applied for perm residence once we got here, then we applied through London England and when it was time to send passports we did and when they came back we just went over to Detroit as we are near there and re-entered as perm residents - you don't have to go back to England !!
Just a thought

hi
Just to add, that we had the same experience. Came here on a work visa, then applied from Canada for PR to Buffalo.. Received PR papers about 2.5 months later and simply went over to Detroit got papers stamped. The whole process took no more than 3.5 months.
Incidentially, we did not need medicals for a work visa.
Hope this helps

Hello all. My family and I are in exactly this situation!......
I dont know what is the best thing to do!
We applied for PR in May 2003 after spending a lot of time getting the paperwork together. As my wife is a Nurse and met the 75 point thingy She applied as the Principle and Myself and Kids were Family on the Skilled worker application.
Since then we visited Toronto in August when my wife sat and Passed the Ontario nursing Licence exam."wah-heyyy"
OK! then she was offered not one but Three posts in Toronto in Various Hospitals. all of which were interested in bringing the whole family out to start work right away "WAHHH _ HEYYYYYYY"
We returned home and the HRDC got in touch with London whereupon we were issued Temp work visas and Study visas for the kids.
We are here now since Sept and my wife started working. and I started job hunting. now I am working and weve settled in quite nicely.
although we have faxed the CIC london each step of the way our application is still no further forward.
I wonder when I read these articles Have I kinda put the cart before the horse? so to speak?
Anyway what do y'all think?
