I am just starting to fill in the documents and have downloaded the application guide but it seems to be the one for the new list of 38 scheme, I am under the old scheme does anyone know where I can get the right guide for that as it seems the new applications are a bit different

I had this problem. I assume you are submitting your updated documents after they have been requested? If so, the best you can do is go by the instructions on the letter they have sent you. Most of the online guidance pdf's have been updated to reflect the new system e.g. submission to Nova Scotia etc.

If you are a London applicant the visa specific checklist is helpful, but not entirely up-to-date with the letter I was sent:
