Default Anyone started a business in Canada?

Hello all,

Does anyone here have any experience of starting a business in Canada?

How does tax work business wise? Can you claim tax back for buying a vehicle and your other bits and pieces etc?

Who do you register your business with etc?

Are there people out there to offer help and advice in starting small firms up??

Looking to go to SW Ontario.

Cheers!

The tax system isn't soooo different here compared to blighty. Everything is online and I've lost the tax info link (sorry) but it's easy to find and you can claim all the usual deductions that you would expect. But there are differences and you need to read all the bumf. There is lots of help for small businesses but I dont know who they are in Ont. Of course you'll find that there are loads of folks who will do your accounts for you but the officials give you such a load of info you jest need some oomph. They'll write and tell youn what extra they want...like getting your hubby's date of birth confirmed!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've had two businesses in Canada, each very different from one another. My advice for one type of business might not apply to another, so I'm not going to risk giving you a bunch of useless advice but the following link should provide you with a good starting point in terms of the tax, registering, red-tape aspects of starting up: http://strategis.ic.gc.ca/sc_x/engdo...l?guides=e_sta

Good luck!
