I am currently waiting for my visa to Canada. I am newly married. When I applied for my visa, my passport was and is still in my maiden name.
My query is that, how can I change my name or add my husband's name? I was given to understand that if I do so now it might pose as a problem. Can I do it once I get to Canada, and how easy or difficult is the procedure?

Once you have applied for ur PR and if there is any change in your circumstances ie marriage, birth of ur child etc, u r supposed to inform the CHC and pay the dependent fee. If u don't do it , it will affect ur application. Once u inform the CHC then it is easier to change ur name in the passport and inform the CHC
