I've done some research online as well, and the cheapest car rentals I came accross were on www.travelocity.ca .
You can compare all the major car rental companies.

I've always used Discount Car & Truck Rental. It's a Canadian company and they've always had good rates and lot sof locations. I've only rented for a weekend though, not a few weeks so not sure how they compare for longer rentals. When my parenmts fly over with Canadian Affair they book car rental through them and get a discount for buying it with the plane ticket.

Budget and Avis are both good. As I recall National will price match those guys. I have also heard of them having a weekend special for $33 for three days - but that was in London, ON and may not be everywhere. Worth a try though.
One thing you can do is to use corporate discount codes which can be found http://www.betterbidding.com/index.p...T&f=304&t=238& Try different ones to get the best rate.
Getting rental insurance (if your credit card doesn't cover it) is another thing. The amount the rental car companies charge is absurd ($23 usually per day). Get it through an insurance specialist company. I used Meloche Monnex and got it for $12 per day I think.
