Update to my 6 May post above.

We flew Air Lingus 14 - 22 May 2025 YYZ-DUB-NCL (Newcastle) checked in with British Passports. At Dublin in transit through the passport control to the connecting flight showing our British passports the passport control agent waved us through without checking the physical British Passport.

On the return leg we checked in at NCL with Canadian passports, at Dublin the passport control waved us through without checking the passport. On arrival in Toronto we did the self entry using the terminals with Canadian passports. No issues.

Update: before we checked in for the return flight we were able to update our passports in the booking from our British passports to our Canadian passports online.

We did the same with BA - a couple of years ago, the booking platforms wouldn’t allow my husband to change his details from UK to Canadian passport on line - we were in Heathrow the previous night to flight so ended up going to the airport to make the change. I had the same issue recently but could easily do online so BA have obviously altered their software to allow for dual passport changes.
