Anyone fed up waiting
#1
Hi all, we applied 17 months ago with an aor of 21 months from Jan 2005. Is anyone else just totally fed up with waiting. We started out full of enthusiasm but so much water has gone under the proverbial bridge that we no longer feel fully commited. Its really sad cos its all caused by the inordinate ammount of time that it takes to become a PR. Does anyone else feel the same??

I think we all feel it - but when you finally get the visa in your passport you suddenly feel as though time is running away with you!
Hang on in there. We started our application in September 2003 and finally got the visa in January 2006.
Time is now flying by at an alarming rate....... house selling, preparing to move, making arrangements at the other end, research, research and did I mention the research, all take time.
We move to Ontario in August.
Good luck.

Not now but been there got the nasty sweaty holey oversize t-shirt and it's no fun...life on hold etc.
But it does end up being worth the wait. Not much confort for you right now I'm sure. Keep the faith and look at the end, is just a means to an end, is all.
Rich.

Hi,
I think we all feel exactly the same as you. It's even worse when you get a bloody delay letter putting you back another year. We were expecting to be processed Aug 06 and now have been told end of June 07.
All I am doing at the moment is moaning and saying it's not fair. I don't know how CIC can expect ordinary families to put their lives on hold indefinitely.
You just have to try and forget about it and get on with your life as best you can. Try and save some money, do your house up ready for selling etc. thats the best advice I've been given but still it's very hard I know..
Keep your chin up and just know it will all be worth it in the end.

(The September 03 date was when we collected all our paperwork.) The date they say they received everything wasn't until March 04..... but we did send it off to them at the beginning of January 04! So, officially we were in the system for 1 year and 10 months but it really took 2 years at their end!
Apparently it is the luck of the draw and the luck of the immigration officer who deals with your case!

CIC need something large and wide shoving up their *****, it's been this way for many years from what i can tell. how many 'good' immigrants are they losing in the system because of the whole crazy way they operate. Each successive government keeps playing around the edges of it, but not doing anything effective.
I don't see the situation changing either, because the lobbyists are just not there and by the time you are eligible to vote in canada as a citizen, you've just stopped caring anyway.

You can't put your life on hold, so do whatever it is you feel like. I changed jobs twice before we moved over here the second time was after we had done our meds
I wasn't the prinicple applicant though which made it easier for me to move 'round. You will have your down days and wonder if it will be worth the wait. I am so glad we are finally here and it took us 23 months to get here, but as they say
"good things come to those who wait.."

But the whole point of applying was because you dont want to carry on as normal! Its farcical, it just takes too long. Other things become more important as time goes on and the focus gradually drifts away from emmigrating at all. Its such a shame that hard working, decent and professional people cant get to Canada but plane hijackers can come to the uk and claim asyllum, wheres the justice>

I agree with you completely. Part of the reason Canada appeals to me is because it doesn't let plane Hijackers in and put them up etc. I guess we can't have it both ways.
