Hi,
As Chumley says, a quick search will pull out hundreds of threads on the topic. You can either do a quick search by using the Search "button" towards the top of your Expats screen, or, from there, you can do an Advanced Search, which takes you to another screen where you can be a little more prescriptive on where you search. This link will hopefully also take you to the Advanced Search screen...

We just put in Canada Dogs Cats Pets and searched on Canada and it's child forums and got 141 search results. If we could figure out how to paste the results of that search for you, we would, but we can't!
Kind regards,
Eamonn & Janet.

Some airlines allow pets in the cabin, look for example here:

This is a mode of transportation I have always preferred for my own cats.

Re: anybody took pets with them
We are bringing my two cats with us.
We are leaving 16 Dec. but then spending the holidays in the States, so we're leaving the cats with AirPets until early Jan. Air Canada will not transport animals during the busy holiday season so we hope to get them on 2, Jan. if possible.
They are flying Heathrow to Halifax and AirPets is supposed to be doing all the paperwork for us as well as providing the crates for transport. I've had all their vaccinations updated, as well as getting them their rabies vaccine. Canada does have rabies and being outdoor cats they would have needed it regardless. I've also had them identi-chipped. The quote for both cats - flight, crates, paperwork, healthcheck - is £846 (+ £15/day at kennel) Not cheap! The rabies vaccination cost me about £50 each and the identi-chips were around £20 each.
I have no idea how this will go - am keeping fingers crossed. Things on this end (UK) seem to be well under control, but I'm a little apprehensive about the Canadian side - will report back and let you know how it goes when they arrive.

We took our border collie, Jasper, with us. He is very intelligent. So much so that he wrote his own diary of his life in Canada.

I must have words with him since he has not written anything for a long time. He is now 9 years old and happily settled here in Vancouver.
Warmly,
Frank
