This is not an immigration question but I thought someone might have an opinion on a good hotel to stay at in Edmonton. My son and his daughter went there last year and booked the hotel sight unseen. It was near the West Edmonton Mall and was reasonably expensive so that is why they picked it. However, it turned out that the whole of the main floor was video machines and it really wasn't a suitable place for a 10 year old.
Can anyone suggest a reasonably priced family hotel within the West Edmonton Mall area? I think there are some on Stony Plain Rd. but would like a recommendation from someone who has actually seen the hotels. Maybe something that has a restaurant attached.
Thanks for any help.

The Ramada is OK - not too close to the Mall, but it's got a good pool with a waterslide.
I've also stayed at the Chateau Edmonton - it's nowhere near anything else and has a tiny pool.
We've been to Edmonton a couple of times now for the Timbits tournament and if possible, we try to avoid hotels around the mall.

Thanks - my son said the last place was terrible with all the VLTs and the cigarette smoke that seems to go along with them.
