Default Anybody else get told this?

I've been told by Canadian immigration that my family back in England have to get medicals and a background check done before my permanant resident application will be completed. Is this normal? It sounds crazy to me. I applied from within Canada and my family in England (parents and sister) are not moving to Canada. Could someone clarify this for me please?

Thanks

Martin

Yes, it's to ensure that no-one if your family has a hereditary disease, and therefore your immediate family need to be checked. If there is a presence, then there's a high likelihood that you would be a drain on the social system and you would be refused.

Default REALLY?!

i would post that question on the google site: http://groups.google.de/groups?hl=de...gration.canada

i don't think your whole family will have to go through medicals - as far as i know only the applicant and accompanying family members have to go through them. if you'd sponsor family members later (after having received PR) they have to get their medicals done then...
