Not sure where in the UK you are, but there is a great store in Huntly in the north east of scotland (whisky country!) which has a variety of casks, and will create a blend for you, or fill you a small bottle of any which catch your eye - so you could always get two or three different malts. My husband got a very nice 40yr old Macallan for Christmas from there which didn't last very long at all, but was very much enjoyed.

Glenlivet - just wondering which whisky company you worked for - I worked for the company who owned Glenlivet for a while back in the 90s. I think the drink collection I built up while working there is now completely drunk - my husband drank the last bottle of special edition malt just before we moved over here.

Started my career as a dreaded Exciseman and work at stills all over Scotland, when each distillery still had an Officer. Then did the "Gamekeeper turned Poacher" stunt and got a job for Chivas Brothers based in Keith in 2000and worked there for 5 years befoe emigrating. Probably know many of the people you do as I regularly visited Glenlivet, Glen Grant, Longmorn, Strathisla, etc.... PM me for a chat if you want.

I know the place in Huntly that you mentioned.

Many years ago I worked with an Irishman who always wished he could get his hands on Tullamore Dew. Now he's no longer around it's available in Toronto.

I'm with you on that. Black bush is my Whiskey of choice. We visited the distillery the year we moved over. Although I did drink Jamesons in Hong Kong recently as they didn't have any Bushmills in the hotel. That was OK but not as nice.

Can't comment on any of the Irish, Welsh (or even English) whiskies as I'm still working my way through the fabulous selection of Scottish malt whisky. Have heard great reviews of the Indian single malt whisky -Amrut. Would have to try this with a " ruby murray" though.

Has anyone tried to import Whisky into Canada? when we moved to New Zealand we brought my husbands collection with us just 30 bottles ish which has now grown to close to 40. We had no issues bringing it here we just declared it as a collection.

He will freak if he cant take it!

There is an English whisky distillery, St. George's Distillery, just a few miles from our village in Norfolk. I haven't tried any of their products yet, but will definitely aim to do so in the near future.
