You can get most Whiskys in Calgary - Co-op Liquor Stores are good. And yes they have Bushmills.

Bruichladdich is another nice malt, or Ardbeg, or Talisker. I don't know if they're available over there though. Right now I'm coming to terms with the thought of leaving our collection of malts behind. Sob!

I find single malt very pricey here, thats why I mostly drink Jamesons now![Embarrassment](https://britishexpats.com/forum/images/smilies/redface.gif)
My fave is The Macallan
The LCBO website lists only the $200 (!!!!!) 17yo fine oak version, I'd settle for the "regular" 12 year old sherry oaked traditional version myself.
TBH all the different oak cask options available now reeks of marketing BS to me, to the point that I no longer know which one it was that I liked in the first place so end up not buying any of them!

Maybe not, perhaps a bottle of 15 year old that he's had for at least 25 years, since my brother was at Uni in Edinburgh anyway...

If you want to discuss expensive scotch. Figure out the cost per shot of this one.

Mr. Maxwell says “we strive at Allen’s to amass the very best in whisky.” I’d assume one that sells for $1,750 an ounce fits the bill. The next most expensive bottle on sale is a $150 an ounce.

Hi,
In a previous life I worked in the Scotch whisky industry. Ah...happy days...
Now living and working in BC but have started doing whisky tastings as a part time and fun venture.
All malt whiskies that you can get in the UK are available in Canada depending where you shop, including some very nice single cask bottlings. For something different check out the duty free shops when you fly through as often they have special bottlings only available to the duty free market. The prices are normally pretty good and when looking at the price, remember that the bottles are normally litre bottles and often of a higher strength than that on the domestic markets.
Some other advice is to find out what malt your friend already drinks. If you find this out, let me know and I'll give you some ideas what to look for.
One bottling that has been a favourite at my tastings is from the Isle of Arran Distillery. A "new" distillery only operating siince 1995 (compared to most that were established in the 1800's) but has produced some quality malt bottlings. An 11 y/o single sherry cask bottling has been the favourite. Arran have other single cask bottlings and finishes out there too including some wine finishes (Sassicia is good), but the single sherry cask has been the favourite so far.
Slainte....

My favorite whiskey is bush mills " black bush". It's also aged in sherry casks . I heard rumpled that whiskey aged in this way is in danger due to a shortage of casks. It seems no one drinks sherry anymore

I believe the whisky companies have been effectively creating their own sherried casks for aging scotch in for a while now
