Another Newbie
Hi to all,
we have spent some time reading through some of the forums and wiki threads, and thought it was time to stop lurking and introduce ourselves.
We are Kev and Mandy from Blantyre in Scotland.
Mandy has applied for a job in Red Deer, Alberta as a nurse manager. She had an informal chat with the company by telephone, they subsequently set up a video conference to interview her for the job, they have contacted her referees through a third party company and the references are winging their way back as we speak. The post qualifies for a LMO as far as we are aware.
Hopefully all will go well, Mandy applied for registration with CARNA around a month ago and arranged for all of the necessary paperwork from different universities etc to be sent.
We are now just waiting to hear regarding the job in Red Deer, fingers crossed. Once we hear back, if it's a definite job offer then we will get the house on the market etc.
Sorry for the long first post, but we are so excited about moving to Canada, providing it all comes together as we hope. Starting to get frustrated already, but we are quite prepared for what could be long waits between any action.
We would appreciate any local info from Red Deer residents if possible, we are looking to move to Sylvan Lake if possible, so any local info would be great.

Hi Kev & Mandy,
A very warm welcome to BE. You sound very organised and fingers crossed it all comes together nicely for you.
Here's a recent thread on Red Deer that you may find helpful.

Hi Eamonn & Janet,
we have already read your blog and looked at your wonderful pictures.
Thanks for the welcome and the links.
We've also been looking at the Innisfail and Penhold areas, as well as Blackfalds and Bentley and Bowden areas, some info on Penhold through the link you provided.
We are looking all around Red Deer at the moment, within 1/2 hr commute.
Mandy will hopefully be working in the Red Deer Regional Hospital which seems quite close to the highway, so fairly accessible.
We will keep you updated on our progress.
Thanks again,
Kev & Mandy

Thank you for the kind words re the blog...just working on some updates at the moment. As for yourselves, some folk that arrive on Expats are clearly in need of much guidance and it is great to play a small part in helping with that...and some just really seem to be pulling it all together and you two are clearly in that category. To the extent that a good attitude and self sufficiency are predictors of success in tackling an emigration project, we feel sure you are going to do great here. We certainly hope so.
And yes, we would love to read about how it all progresses for you.
E&J.
