Hi

I've just discovered this site. We are hopefully in the final throes of moving to Canada - probably the Toronto area. We are a family of 5 plus dog.

Hi Kevin, I just joined today too, we are a family of four plus one dog, deciding where's best for us.
Have you got your visas? How long did they take?

Hi DollyH,

We haven't got the visas yet. We started collating the information back in Sept 04, then received AOR on 14 Feb 05, followed by a request to update in Dec 06, meds request was in late June 07 and the meds results were sent in late July 07. So I'm hoping that we're not too far away from receiving the request for passports.

How about you?

Kevin

We are only just starting to look into it all, have books, travel guided, and forever on the net looking at property, lifestyle etc. We are planning on visiting for either a week in October, or two weeks over Christmas to decide where we would like to go, either Vancouver or Nova Scotia but really we don't know.Would love to be near water, in a place with history. Planning on going to the show in York next month, that should help us. Hubby turns 44 in Jan so hoping to get paperwork off before then if it would give us more points.

How about you and your plans?

Susan,
Heysham Lancs.

Hi Susan

We were the same looked into it and talked about it for months. I go on business trips to Canada so I sort of know the lay of the land. Last year we went on an extended holiday in the areas that we were thinking of living in - so we explored Ontario (Toronto, Niagara, Algonquin) then on to Ottawa (white water rafting on the way), and spent some time in Quebec City and Halifax. My wife and I are in our 40s too. I think you start to lose points after 49. I'm in finance so I'm looking to the big centres for work - I also have a network of sorts in Toronto.

When the PR visa comes then we need to sell up, find a house and schools so it will be a busy time.

Paula

That's great news - many congrats. Hopefully ours will come through soon. Our additional meds were sent in mid August by the docs so if there's any logic to the process we should hear in mid September.

Really pleased for you and your family.

Hi Kevin,

Welcome. Looks like we in the same boat - waiting for passport requests. We are Ontario bound (London).

If there is anything you'd like to ask, fire away.
