Default Another electrical query - pressure washer

We are spending a wet and miserable day sorting out yet more stuff:curse:

I know there have been lots of questions on taking electrical goods to Canada and I have tried searching the forum for the answer to my question but have got nowhere - so please don't shout at me

We would like to take our virtually new pressure washer with us and use a transformer. Will the performance be reasonable? I've read so much on this forum about the motor speeds of various items being affected to the extent that they are usable

Any help appreciated

Jo

Hi

I purchased a 13A transformer in 1997 when I moved to Calgary. I run all my 240V UK electrical tools using the transformer with no problems. I purchased it from Glazier Electric limited. Tel 403-283-411 email [email protected].(not sure if this is current contacts)
Transformer is made by Hammond manufacturing in Canada.
I found I have managed to use it now in the UK in reverse(step down) for all North Americian 110V tools.
The only issue I had in Canada is using my UK pressure washer was when I used well supplied water, as I found it pulsed and tripped the washer some times.
Hope this helps.

My canadian bought one does the same thing if there is insufficient incoming pressure. (Well pressure is a lot lower than city water) It used to be fine for the longest time, then I lent it to a mate and it came back like that....

FWIW you can buy new pressure washers for less than a couple of hundred bux, if that helps with the decision process.

Thanks Notiaink

The presure cleaner is a Karcher and virtually new so I think it will be worth bringing it.
