Well, we've been here almost 3 years in BC- Mission to be exact. A lot has happened. My hubby's dad died last year so that was tough and I miss my family a lot. However, kids are settled and enjoying life. I don't think we are in the right place for us. Things may change, you never know or we may move. Canada is the place for us and maybe even BC but not Mission. Time is of the essence as my oldest child is in grade 1. I don't want to keep moving and unsettle him. Anyway, anybody out there with any thoughts about Mission, Fraser valley? Is it really a great place and I'm not seeing for some reason?

If you ever want a sightseeing flight over the valley and Vancouver to see what it's like form the air, I have a buddy who does that out of Abbotsford for just the rental cost of the plane. It gives a different perspective.

You might find Langley or Abbotsford more appealing possibly then Mission. Both are larger, on Hwy 1, offer more etc when compared to Mission.
I've been in the valley for 5 years now, and the only issue really I have is poor air quality during summer, tends to get worse the further east one goes.

It is a misnomer that the eastern valley is affected more than elsewhere, the air quality is poor in the whole of the Fraser Valley air shed, no matter where you live. When coming into YVR the yellow cloud of haze is as bad over Langley and Surrey as it is over Chilliwack, worse when an easterly is blowing in. More pollution is generated at the west end of the valley and although it can move up the valley, there is a continuous cycle of pollution, so the residents of the west end are living in it is as well. Those affected the worst are the ones living high up on hillsides.

Being a bit biased, I think Kelowna is a great place
. The main reason for us is that we felt it would be a fantastic place to bring up our children. We have a six year old and a little newbie, six months !
It really has a four seasons feel about it, with plenty of beaches, etc in the summer and plenty of ski hills for the winter.
Having said that, I agree with your original comments about Canada in general being the right place. This is such a beautiful country that I dont think you could go too wrong with wherever you live !

Thanks guys for the replies. However, can I ask you why you wouldn't choose Mission Mr Aviator? I need to know if it's just me thinking this place is not right.
