I had a long email chat with the safety guy at Britax UK before we left about using a UK-made seat, he basically said no way. Whilst it would be better than no seat (obviously!) he said apart from it never having been tested with North American models (the UK and US/Canadian Britaxes are not made in the same factory even), there would be serious insurance issues about using a non-compliant seat should we have a crash.
I left it in the UK for visits to the grandparents. Unlike the UK it's compulsory to have your kid in a childseat in MB at least, so that was one of our first purchases.
