Hi - can someone advise the order of events in purchasing/registering a car in Alberta, i.e.

- Exchange UK License for Alberta License
- Purchase registration Plate
- Purchase Car
- Register Vehicle to Plate
- Arrange Insurance

What have i missed and what order does it need to be done in?

Register car, during which time you will be given plate.

I would insert

photocopy licence to show its clean before you exchange

If I wanted to get a personalized plate, how would that work, can you purchase the plate prior to the car?

No you cannot get "any" plates before you purchase a car.

You need to prove you have a vehicle (i.e bill of sale) and you need to prove you have insurance for said vehicle.

They can take upto 6 weeks to arrive, cost around $250 if I remember rightly. Once you get your new plate it costs about $20 to switch from one to the other. Again if I remember rightly, it's OH that usually does all this

Agree with the above but you do not have to have your Alberta license yet. You just need bill of sale and pink cards and go to your local plates registry and ta da!
