Default Airpets

Hi

Just started to look into getting our mutley over to NS.

Can anyone give me an idea of total cost using the DIY route to include the flight, crate, paperwork etc.

I have a quote from airpets for £1372 to include everything except rabies jab, normal vaccinations(which he already has) and airport charge. This includes collection from anywhere in the UK and 2 days boarding prior to leaving.

This is a lot of money, however if it is only a bit more than doing it all yourself and the associated costs it may be worthwhile

Also any feedback on airpets would be great

Thanks v much

We used airpets mainly cos it took the hassle from us and the dogs would follow us a few days later. We had 3 dogs and they was collected from my parents and driven from Lincs to London plus other stuff and we just meet them in Halifax and paid customs fees before we could pick them up. Although expensive was well worth it and dogs where fine. Kennels excellent that we still have them

We had a quote from air canada to ship our sprocker spaniel over to NS. As she is under 35kg inc crate the cost would be £180. Jabs, Certs etc £100 max.

hope this helps

We brought 9 dogs over to NS in 2005, total cost was around 6000 pounds. We used a company called Jets for Pets, but if we had to do it again we would just organise everything ourselves, it's very easy. We imported 2 more dogs from the UK last year by doing it ourselves. The original dogs flew with Zoom, which is very sadly not an option anymore the 2 last year flew Air Canada.

We used airpets last March to ship our dog from the airpet kennels at Heathrow, where we left him when we flew out and they got him shipped to Vancouver for us a few days later when we had got over the initial shock of arriving and were ready for him! We had a look round the airpet kennels and they were fine and we had no worries about leaving him there. He arrived in Vancouver, in the custom made crate they had made him, looking completely fine. I would recommend them

Hi Louise, welcome to BE, have dropped you a PM, you are not far from where we are looking to move to

Thanks everyone, seems if we were to use a co, that Airpets looks good, its just weighing up the cost v convenience I suppose

Cheers

Think we will have to go DIY with our pooches at the prices quoated supose it is the same as doing the paper work yourself for immigration ?
as in could take the easy way out and let someone else do all the work ( no always the easy way either judging by some peoples expierience of immigration firms )

So would be really interseted to see exactly what you need to do, it is in wiki but wonder if anyone who has recently done it could let us know the costs and what it entails
