air weapons?

You won't be able to carry any sort of firearms in hand baggage, even checked baggage is going to raise alarm. This has been the case for many years. There is no chance whatsoever of them getting through security at an airport. If you do expect that you may miss your flight.

Surely buying a gun from crappy tire is like buying a bike from crappy tire. Its nice and new, but it wont last you, and anyone taking the sport seriously buys better gear at a specialised store?

Savage makes fine rifles... that was a very good suggestion from triumphguy. That rifle will be in fine condition 100 years from now.

Some very good deals can be had but you have to know what your shopping for.

Not everything in Canadian Tire is crap. You can get Blaser, Weatherby, Remington, Marlin, Browning, Savage, CZ, Benellii rifles and shotguns from CT. If you know anything about firearms you will recognize these brands.
Blasers cost about $5,000
CT's price for this specific rifle in Calgary is cheaper than Wholesale Outfitters, Russell Sports and ProLine - all specialized stores.

Actually it's a fun sport, but you get discouraged from "playing" with guns real early!

People say that about bowls, and tennis, and snooker and any number of other tedious things. I did try shooting once as a teen with a friend. I was pretty good at it, but it wasnt for me. You might feel the same way about golf or curling perhaps
