I think it may be handy to elaborate somewhat!!!! Are you a pig farmer, an agricultural finance specialist...... what???

And in what part of Canada in particular you'd like to get your foot into. It's a big place.....

Re: Agricultural Contacts
mind you I don't know about out your way but Alberta is suffering nig time from the weather - lack or sufficient rain is making the farmers jittery.
Apparently a lot of farmers are feeding their cows hay still due to lack of grazing - not a good time to be in agriculture what with everything else.

Re: Agricultural Contacts
He's probably an urban Agricultralist.
He said ealier "Recently awared PR status, but now, like most of you, trying to find a job. Doing a recce trip in beginning of Sept to Toronto and Calgary. Been to Calgary and Vancouver before and both are great, which makes where to move even more difficult!"
You have to give a little bit more info otherwise the network is going to flag you as a person who is vague.

Re: Agricultural Contacts
Hi everyone, thanks for the guidance as don't want to be flagged up as "vague" Still getting used to the ettiquette of the forum.
First of all, I chose an awful username (old female family name!) which suggests I am a male, but I am a girlie girl. apologies for the confusion.
Done the hands on farm labour stint, but moved on to being more office based. I qualified in agriculture and am currently working in animal feed formulation, but have experience in raw material logistics and a tiny bit of raw material buying, so would like to find something in those lines still. If that fails, I will fall back on my secretarial/administration qualifications and try and find a secretarial/admin job. Any feedback on the admin area would be appreciated too! (hint! hint!) I know I mentioned a few areas in my initial post, but have been looking specifically at Calgary and surrounding area and Toronto and surrounding area due to the agric. influence. Those are the areas I would ideally like to live in. Having sent my CV through to some on line agencies e.g AgCallHR, Agcareers, and constantly checking out their job posts, I am now not fussy where I go and just want a job, sounds desperate, but time is running out and I don't want to lose my PR status due to not being in Canada for the minimal amount of time. What with my folks who are getting long in the tooth, I am certain I will need to fly back to the UK for one reason or another once I am in Canada, so am reluctant to leave it to the last minute. Pardon all the waffle if it comes across like that!
Along with the economy, it seems to be a running theme throughout the world with farmers struggling due to the weather. Times are tough on the farmers here in the UK, with a dairy processor going under 2 weeks ago. Thankfully the weather has been good for the crops, fingers crossed it contintues so they get a bumper crop!
Hope that is more descriptive now. Thanks for you feedback everyone, appreciate it.

Re: Agricultural Contacts
Guelph is the place in the Toronto area for things agricultural; university offering ag studies, vet school, feed companies, stuff of that nature. Our neighbour, primarily a potato farmer who also has some cows and hay, diversifies his income by speaking at the university and working for the potato marketing board both in Guelph. I can ask him what he knows but I likely won't see him until the first cut; that's probably three weeks away.
