But what do you want, and what do you have now that you don't want?

I read all the threads. It sounds like you need to leave Mission.

Actually, we did visit Calgary once and might take a closer look.
As for Mission, it's a love/hate relationship and it doesn't help at all that our youngest has just started grade 2 with two (unsatisfactory) elementary schools behind him already. Now he's in a French Immersion programme.

The budget won't stretch very far because we lost so much on this one. Oh dear .... we'll figure it out. City living is out so we're looking at the outskirts and towns in between.

Seems others don't have much love for Mission!

Yeah, sorry 'bout that. I did have more to this originally but got a little trigger happy with the delete function, ending up with next to nothing except for my original thoughts on Mission and THIS development we live in (but not for long). My original post said something along the lines of how relieved we were to have finally sold after three years of trying so desperately to get out, out, out. We complete in 5 weeks but will move away before then and rent for a short term until we are a bit clearer in the head regarding our next place, wherever and whenever that might be. This place has been pretty poisonous, but I didn't mean Mission in general; just this development with its disparate bunch of ... weirdos. Too many very bad things and too many interfering and nosey people twitching their curtains here constantly.

So there you go. What next?

Seriously Guys, I'm not sure what you're looking for in your 'lifestyle' but I love this area. As many on here will tell you the outskirts (Okotoks, Cochrane, Chestermere, even Airdrie) has much to recommend it.

But that estate agent woman, Parnell?, seems like the ultimate curtain twitcher and she's in one of those places. Laundry regulations, cat regulations, who needs all that?

You know what the toughest thing is? I have a great job in a good school and, as you probably already know, getting accredited, certified, licensed - whatever - it's pretty tough having to go through that again in another province and then try to land a similar post, if at all, without having to go down the very lengthy and disheartening Teacher-On-Call route. We can't afford a place like the one we've just sold and some might say it was foolish selling it for such a big loss, but in all honesty, the environment here isn't conducive to healthy living, mentally speaking. We took a big hit to get out and only just managed it. We have to settle for a very different house, area and we all know how lowering the affordability bracket can put you in an undesirable, but affordable, part of town. This said, could it be any worse than what we're leaving behind ...

So Calgary, then ... anyone know that the teaching situation is like right now? Of course, I'll look it up myself in due course but it might be helpful to get any teachers' views out there already ...?

I don't know. We'll just take it a day at a time.

Don't know who Parnell is, but I recognise the regulations ....

I can't answer for local school board hiring at this time in Calgary but be aware that we are currently getting cutbacks in Education funding and the funding cutbacks will only be worse next year.

On the mobility front are you aware that Alberta and B.C. signed an agreement recently giving teachers full mobility between the two provinces with no requirement for recertification.

Cheers
