After 6 months in Canada....

Evening all!
Is there anyone out there that could advise on the following scenario?
A self sufficient British couple buy a "holiday home" in Canada, they wish to stay for six months, then return to the UK to visit family & friends. How long do they have to be out of Canada before they can return to their "holiday home"?
Is this a process that they could repeat for several years?
Thanks in advance.

I would think that if you are limited to a six month visit (and this is at the discretion of the customs and immigration officer each time they arrive) then you would have to wait at least six months before returning for another six month stay.

In theory you can leave for a day and come back again
In practice immigration may think you are up to something and refuse or restrict entry eventually.
Where it could get really sticky is if they think you are working/ generating income from your activities here.
Having said all that Im not sure how likely any of that is in the real world. Taxes and healthcare would be obvious complications.

Is there a reason it's "holiday home" with quotes? Just that if you would be trying to live in Canada without the correct visa (rather than just visiting) then at some point you'll be refused entry.
Regular visits would be fine, but if you're spending more time in Canada than outside it, then that would be when you'd be at risk of being turned around at POE imo. Bear in mind you can also be asked to show ties to the UK i.e. maintain a home there etc, and would need really good travel insurance.
HTH.

As I say, I'm not advising you to do it, or not to do it, just saying I know a couple who did just that, and they were never turned away or even given a hard time as far as I am aware...

I can't say whether or not it is "allowed", but my friend's parents did just this while they were awaiting their sponsored permanent residency. They bought a property here and came and went for I think a couple of years (not sure). They used to go back to Wales for 2 weeks or so every six months.

I'm guessing if you have a good enough reason, ie waiting for PR then they are less likely to turn you back
