If I do that I get 47 still images but by scrolling down like a flickbook thingy, I see it. Cute!

Does that make any sense at all to you?

I was hoping to bump into a couple of local people too for a 'straightener' ahem.

Ok, so Vancouver has the earthquake issue, Toronto has pollution, Calgary has tornadoes (is this true?) What's the problem in Kelowna? (or is this where the black widow spiders live?!!)

Seen a couple in the 12 years I've lived here, but they are generally small, away from inhabited areas, and rarely touch down. There was quite a big one a while back in northern Alberta that destroyed a mobile home park. They're not common though.

Edmonton has had more tornadoes than Calgary, but still only a few.
The tornado to which I think Calgal is referring is the one that hit Sylvan Lake in July 2000. Sylvan Lake is a resort near Red Deer, about half way between Calgary and Edmonton (so about 1.5 hours' drive north of Calgary).
In June 2004 there was a tornado in the Vulcan area, about 1.5 hours' drive SE of Calgary. However, it happened in a rural area and, as far as I recall, no one was hurt.
In June 2005 Calgary had a tornado warning (that did not turn into an actual tornado). From his highrise building downtown my son watched the funnel clouds forming and dissipating to the south of the city. Fortunately none of them touched down.
Calgary does get hail storms from time to time.

Its a big continent, wherever you go carries some risk of tornados, mudslides, forest fires, ice storms etc etc etc. Cant live your life worried about these things.

Good - I'm not put off yet! I think I'd rather risk a tornado than a Friday night in Cardiff city centre any day!!
