Default Advice please

I have been visiting my husband in Toronto since late January as a visitor whilst awaiting for my decision on my permanent residency.... today I received in the mail (which my parents mailed to me from England) the letter saying yes I have my COPR

Now, of course I have to get my paperwork signed at the airport or Port of Entry. My question is it best for me to travel home to England for a holiday then come back?..looking so expensive at this time (I was planning to stay here for the 6 month allowance on a visitor stay, meaning I would return home in July then just wait for word from CIC from then) or preferably could I go across to America for the day with friends then come back in that way? Is it still exactly the same process?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is a great forum for expats or soon to be expats

Do a search for flag polling
You just need to leave Canada
It can be for as little as 5 minutes

I think you can also " land " at a CIC office but may have to wait for an appt

We flagpoled. Easy enough from Toronto. We just went for dinner across the border and came back. We told them what we were going for and they were fine with that.

Hi! and congratulations on your COPR! I flagpoled at the Rainbow bridge (Pedestrian) at Niagara Falls last week. SOoooooooooo Easy, the whole process including going to US Immigration AND Canadian Immigration took 30 minutes and cost up a whole 50 cents!! Take a trip to Niagara with you Hubbie and just get it done!! I am also in Toronto and honestly it was breeze. Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Hi,

Just to let you know everything went well with getting my COPR signed.

We ended up going to Buffalo with a couple of friends, it took longer for me on the American side to get a visa waiver stapled in my passport (I had never been to the states so they took fingerprints and a photo) than it did for me to go and get my COPR signed on the way back over. That took about 10 minutes in all and he also waived my tax charge on goods bought! Am so glad to get this all sorted and looking forward to the next chapter

Thanks for your advice guys.
