Advice on next move

Greetings all. Could I get some advice on our next move. We have just been nominated for PNP by BC. Currently we are waiting for the paperwork to arrive. Partner who is the main applicant has confirmed job offer open until May 2009.
1. My UK police checks are fine but who is responsible for chasing up police checks from 3 countries I've also lived in?
2. We would rather emigrate using PR rather than TWP but would we be pushing it to hold out for for PR and hope we have it come May 2009
Would welcome ideas folks

1. You are
2. We also came to BC through the PNP and we had our PR arranged before we left. I think the whole process only took about 6 or 7 months.

to get the police certificates for the countries you have lived in, several hints:

-either contact the consulate of the country you need the certificate from, in the country you live in (example: I needed an Italian certificate, I called the Italian consulate here in Paris, as that is where I live). They will be able to explain the necessary paperwor to you, and you might even be able to apply for them at the consulate.
-or you check CIC's website in the country that you need the police certificate from (or handling the country that you need the police certificate from). Where they give the checklist of all necessary paperwork for PR, they also give sample letters and the address to address them to for police certificates.

Beware, some of these cost money, some of these take a while to get.

(my experience is with German, Italian and French certificates, so if you need help on how to get these, I can help)

Anyone to give me some info about Kamloops BC? We are preparing to move there but when I told a friend who lives in Calgary, their response was WHY KAMLOOPS OF ALL PLACES? I researched a bit about this place and what I've read is OK but I'm still troubled about my mate's response. We have a 2 year old daughter and would like her to grow up in a more open environment different from the London concrete jungle!

There are perhaps half a dozen members of this forum who live in Kamloops and who like it very much.

There's a BE Wiki article on Kamloops.

If there's one thing I've learned from my 31 years as an expat, it's not to take friends' opinions too seriously. What friends sometimes don't understand is that everyone is different. Jack Spratt could eat no fat, and his wife could eat no lean. People forget that. My hypothesis is that friends want you to reinforce the choices they made by making the same choices yourself. If you make a different choice, it somehow invalidates their choice. Or something like that.

And, to the friend who asked you WHY KAMLOOPS OF ALL PLACES, I have a response, which is WHY CALGARY OF ALL PLACES?
x

TNT man just delivered my PNP documentation, 3 days after I got an email confirming nomination. Now begins the meticulous compilation of all docs for CHC. Am really nervous about forgetting some docs. Any tips?

Not lived in Kamloops, but go there quite often, was up there yesterday. Have lived in Calgary and would choose Kamloops over Calgary, but then that is only a personal opinion. Kamloops is a great place, so long as it fits your lifestyle and you can get the work you want to do. If you are preparing to move there, one presumes you've been and done your research and like it. Your friend may like Calgary, you may not. No good second guessing yourself once you've made a decision.

When I moved over, went to Calgary for six months, it was not what I wanted and moved to the coast, with no regrets.

I am in a bit of a quandary and would welcome some suggestions. Since I received my PNP Letter of Confirmation We've been debating whether to also submit an application for TWP together with the PR under 'dual intent'. My prospective employer is pushing that I do this but I'm not entirely keen on moving on a TWP initially. My worry is what I perceive as an unstable situation with a TWP. Further what additional applications would I have to complete to get my spouse and daughter to move with me? I would rather be patient and wait for PR and then uproot the family. Am I being too pedantic?
