I found a nice 1 bedroom in a condonium in downtown for $1405, which is above my budget... so, I'd like to ask the management property to reduce it to $1300.
Then, I am wondering if it is an usual practise to negociate a rent in Canada.
If so, on which criteria, could I base my request on?

Hi. Is the apartment being let by the management direct or through a real property brokerage? What are the monthly condo fees and what do they include? Are there any special assessments, current or up coming? Do you have to pay any utilities such as electricity. Get all this in writing if you are dealing with the management direct. If it's being handled by a Realtor then get yourself a Realtor to help you. It should not cost you a penny and he will negotiate on your behalf. In answer to your question, yes, it's quite normal to haggle over the lease payments.

Well, I will try to negociate something with them, because $1400 is pretty expensive. Let's hope I will get a good deal

The management co. that look after my place use their discretion within reason. They once accepted 200 CAD below my agreed monthly price, never anything less than that...but that was winter in Calgary a while back, now I'm getting 200 CAD above agreed rental!

Why not try, the worst they can say is no.
