Hi Glasgow Bhoy, Judy and Frank gave you some great links last time you asked - http://britishexpats.com/forum/showthread.php?t=472844 - was there anything we can expand on for you?

I guess the first thing would be can she sponsor you? Have you been living together for >12mths?

Or do you need to look at getting here as a skilled worker instead?

Take this test here and see if you have enough points to emigrate as a skilled worker.

It may be worth looking into BUNAC - non-student program. I think that you can apply in December - be sure to move fast as the spaces soon fill. This will allow you to work in Canada for a year and gain enough evidence (bills, joint bank accounts etc) to prove that you have been in a Common-Law relationship. After the 12 months you can apply for PR through Family Class and she will be able to sponsor you. There is even the option of staying on as a visitor afterwards if this is financially viable.

Check out their site:
http://www.bunac.co.uk/uk/workcanada/
http://www.bunac.co.uk/uk/workcanada/moreinfo.aspx

Also search the threads for 'BUNAC' as I know that there are a few on here (including myself) that have used this route. Feel free to fire any questions at me and I will do my best to help.

For BUNAC you don't have to be a student, just under 35 yrs old

Pity it doesn't ask what team you used to play for, since giving the right answer may put you over the 67 points.

I hope I don't sound curmudgeonly (hah!) and sorry for drifting off topic, but what is this obsession people have with typing "lol", seemingly at random, into their posts? Are you really laughing out loud? Honestly.

"Lolling" should be restricted to dogs.

Okay, your normal service will now be resumed.
