Okotoks to any of the Calgary unis will be a horrible daily commute. It's about 50km each way. You're going to need to factor in:
  • a reliable vehicle, with snow tires (good all seasons if you must)
  • insurance, which for brits is extremely expensive (I was paying about $3000 a year when I first move here)
  • petrol money - which is substantially less than the UK - but at 100km to/from uni each day, 5 days a week, is 500km. That's a tank a week.

With the insurance, you might get a slight discount if you bring letters from your current insurer.
