Hi i am looking for some advice on moving from the UK to Canada. What are the prospects like for 28 year old male getting a job there, i am a university graduate in computing and looking into getting a job within that field. Having looked around some sites on the internet i feel that Calgary seems like a place to really look at. What are the chances of getting a job offer while still resident here in the UK? Also roughly how long does one wait for Visa processing, etc. . I have done the NOC search and my field comes up within the list with descriptions about that particular job title but am unsure as to what the 'Skill Type 0 or Skill level A/B mean.
Any advice would be much appreciated thanks

If you are going to apply for a permanent Resident Visa - then be prepared for a 4 year wait.
However, why not search the forums for info on Work Permits, BUNAC and PNP schemes by using the "search this forum" button. This way you wil get loads of links and info then come back onto the forums and ask specific questions to clear up anything that still remains unclear.

A lot depends on if you are a "university graduate in computing" with 5 years work experience in computing, or if you are "university graduate in computing " with no work experience having only recently graduated?
If you are the former, you will have a very slim chance of getting there in less than 5 years, if you are the latter you have virtually no chance of getting there quickly.
I am being brutally honest here, and this is only my personal opinions from my own experiences.
However, due to your age you could appy via the BUNAC route, which would get you there much quicker.
You will get plenty of good advice on this site, and I wish you good luck whatever you end up doing.

Hi Darren
For the IT-qualified, the grass is certainly not greener here in Canada, whether you have applicable work experience or not.
In terms of prospects, you will get a much richer skillset in the UK\Europe and the salary to reflect that.
Your career may be less important to you, than the perceived quality of life that you look for in Canada.
After 2 years here, it's becoming apparent that Canada offers more as a vacation location than somewhere to permanently live (in our case at least).
Little-B.
