Default Advice about temporary work in Vancouver

Hello, I've been working in London for the last 6 years in the publishing industry. I have a BSc Degree. I have recently decided I would like to visit my auntie in Vancouver and possibly stay and work for at least 6 months. I would like to get some advice on just moving out there without a previous job offer? How difficult is it to just start applying for work as soon as I get off the plane?
I would like to book my flights and head out over in January 2009.
If anyone has any positive advice that would be very much appreciated
Thanks

Andrew

hi andrew

you can certainly look for work whilst visiting, no probs and the best idea but you can't work without a temp work permit but you can visit for six months as long as your passport is valid and has enough time on it for you to return to the uk.....go look for a job with a pnp attached or check out if you job is on the LMO......BC was recently publishing that sales, marketing etc was 5th on the LMO list......good luck

Do remember that they will only allow you in as a visitor for 6 months and can easily refuse you entry if they think you have any other intention (i.e. staying long term as you are hoping for!). So, be very careful, don't take all your worldly possession or anything to do with job hunting, you need to pack as if you are just going for a holiday.

How old are you, is Bunac an option?

Good luck.
