Advice about moving to Canada - a single 25 year old!
Hello,
Hopefully I have posted this in the right place! (unsure whether it would be here or immigration!). I have recently gained an IEC visa (valid for a year etc).
At first I was 100% adamant of moving to Vancouver to find work and so forth hopefully this will be a stepping stone to eventually gain PR status). However, now thinking about it I thought maybe I should move to Quebec, (montreal specifically), live with a host family learn french and look for a job which is more so in english but will give french language learning opportunities!
I am only 25, so I do not have a wealth of life experience, but any thoughts about what would be best to try or general info would be better!
About myself
I currently work in UK as an ICU nurse, so I would prefer to do this job in Canada! In regards to montreal, I would be more than happy to immerse myself into the French language (wanted to learn for agggess!)
So, any ideas?
Thanks!
Simon-Matthew

Ok....so here is the thing.
When it comeS to CIC application, Quebec is the only province that does their own. Then you have the provincial regualtion obstacle for your trade, and if you choose to base yourself in Montreal, you will have to learn the language fast.
For example, most Hospitals in the Ottawa area are full of Francophones that speak some English, just because most Anglos can't be arsed to learn French.
You might want to consider the small provinces and territories to get your foot through the door. Afterall you are young, and only live once right (yolo)
Good luck

Will not be able to work as a nurse without meeting nurse requirements, pass nursing exam (CRNE except Quebec who have their own exam) and a medical. Anyone working in healthcare has to pass a medical. Also be aware you may not meet nursing requirements due to when you trained as Canada trains generally and clinical and theory hours are required in Paeds, Mental Health, Obstetric and Adult

Have you considered the IEC route? That would be a great way to spend a year in Quebec and learn French. You can submit an application yourself or go through BUNAC.

The 2012 allocation has run out. So you'd have to wait until 2013.

Yes he has got one Novo we can read He would also be eligible for a
2nd one hence the apply in Jan 2013.
Im betting he hasnt had a medical so working in the nursing section will be somewhat difficult be it on the IEC or TWP route.
No harm in looking though.

Why on earth would anyone want go and live in Canada when they’re only 25? It’s sort of like going to live with your old spinster aunt in the middle of nowhere.

Why on earth would anyone waste the electrons to post in a thread that wasnt asking if Canada was a good move, just about where in Canada to try

Plus at least living with your spinster aunt would probably consist of free board and home cooked meals and knitting and crochet lessons.

Obviously I disagree with you but you did remind me of a recent thread in the USA forum where a guy is thinking of moving from Switzerland to Newark, NJ. Now that I really don't understand.
