Many of you seem to know quite a bit about the area - I too was looking at MR Mission 7 Abby (where I will be working - hopefully soon) However, now that you have derpressed me no end & due to my pot of gold shrinking by the minute - exchange rate!!) I am now looking at Chilliwack - any thoughts are welcome.
Don't tell me it has a local hostel for serial killers & the worst crime rate in BC!!
Seriously though, apart from the East Coast Express are there any real advantages in living in MR considering that I will be working in Abby?
Thanks

If you are working in Abbotsford, then Chilliwack is an excellent choice. I actually really like Chilliwack, and especially the Sardis and Vedder areas. Cultus Lake is close by, and they have excellent sports arenas. Easy access to the freeway, and to the US as well. The shopping is good - Four Corners Mall has all the big stores, and lots of other big outlets in the area. Housing prices are cheaper too. I had a trailer at Cultus Lake for 20 years, so spent lots of time in the Chilliwack area. I may even retire there!
Maple Ridge wouldn't be such a good choice for commuting to Abbotsford. You'd have to drive out to Mission and cross the bridge to get to Abbotsford.
Good luck.

People who couldn't afford Port Coquitlam or MR lived there when I lived in PoCo, but you can get reasonable houses with postage stamp gardens for under $300,000 which is a bonus I guess. Oh and it has the biggest Hells Angels Club House in the area. Remember that the HA run all the drugs and the hookers that other "gangs" haven't managed to wrangle away. No burglaries down that road I can tell you...

And I have never seen a hooker walking the streets,

In any case yes - give me the lowdown on Chilliwack & all it has to offer. I have been looking at the Promontory area for houses etc & wondered if this was a good choice. Self sufficiency from Abby or Vancouver I take it isn't a problem? & my kids will enjoy living there with plenty to do?
Thanks for the already good advice
