I'll go with MikeUK on the UK don't miss list -
1.Crowded roads
2.Over inflated house prices...and the fact that it goes boom bust every ten years
3.Litter
Then for Canada
1.Turning left into an open road with no traffic on it - sh&t which side to I go for - (only been here 6 months)
2.The way gas prices go up/down up/down up/down in just one day
3.Shoveling this goddam snow off the drive for the second time this week!

Yea I guess I shouldn't complain as I had my grandson helping me (5yrs old) then we spent the next 1/2 hour building a great snowman - funny but you don't see many 'real' snowmen (plenty of blow up Xmas ones though) when our driving round
[QUOTE=Glaswegian]Twice in one week - you have it easy. I have cleared our snow three times today, once yesterday and Mr G will probably be clearing it again twice tonight.

Insurance thing used to get right on my goat but if you think about it - gas prices are well below blighty range..unleaded retailing at circa 80pence/l = CDN 1.60/l on a conservative 1 GBP = 2 CDN!!! Also no MOT and you save a couple of % on tax i.e. UK VAT rate higher than PST/GST combo. Over a period of time you are better of in Canada on this front - did I mention the cheaper car prices (for new that is).
Still well hacked off about bank charges though - hopefully free banking is one relevant/ acceptable non Canadian experience the locals will take too.

Yes no MOT (and lets not even think about insurance) but in TO we have "Drive Clean" tests every 2 years @ $35 (+the inevitable taxes) hmmm and come to think of it those '+tax' prices are a bit of a pain in the ass too, you think you've got the correct money ready but you forgot there were TWO taxes on that item.

Where to start!
WHAT I DONT MISS ABOUT UK
1. Rip off Britain prices on..... well everything!
2. Could never afford to get on housing ladder.
3. General Dinginess and Grubyness and Smallness of everything from the streets to restaurant portions to the minds of many of the people!
WHAT I DONT LIKE ABOUT CANADA
1. Apparant Lack of Job security / employment rights
2. The 4th and 5th months of Winter
3. No decent Indian restaurants within (at least) 100km, or in the supermarkets
OK, how about wideneing this to avoid the negativity....
WHAT I DO MISS ABOUT BRITAIN
1. Great History and Cultural treasures all around
2. Family and Friends
3.A decent pint/ pub
WHAT I LOVE ABOUT CANADA
1. Wide open spaces
2. Wide open people
3. Good quality of life on my "average" income
Obviosly there are way more than 3 in all these categories...well most of the categories, you can guess which one I was struggling to get to three on!
Cheers

Won't miss in the UK:
Separate (hot & cold) Taps
Expensive housing
Victorian style architecture for residentials
Don't like in Canada:
Crappy news bulletins on TV (I miss Ch4's Jon Snow)
Some Rude TTC Staff
Open & un-monitored doors of elementary schools (come on in paedophiles!)
