But you do at No Frills and Food Basics. Superstore is one of the more upmarket Loblaws brands.

I think you misunderstood, what I was saying is that at no Loblaw's brand store in Calgary do they bag your groceries for you, I think the only place they do is the Co-op. Maybe Safeway if you need help.

Last monday... The 1.75l cartons of Oasis fresh OJ are often less than $2 as well.

I figured bagging was a universal thing in the more expensive stores. Live and learn.

What a shame there isn't a store called Wolf's.

**** me, you'd think you lot had moved to Canada to live in abject poverty where worrying about the price of groceries is constant daily stress.

I thought we all moved for a better quality of life, not spend it shuffling around multiple stores looking for bargains to save a few cents

Its seems many Western immigrants always have something to complain about whether it be the media hyperbole in the UK, or the price of groceries in Canada.

Just be ****ing happy with what you have right now and stop wasting energy on things that don't really matter.

Amen

I can see most of you shaking your heads at this thread thinking 'typical newbie, she'll learn'

Many thanks

Sobeys is 10-20% more expensive and probably has less choice than Loblaws.

I'm not comparing with the UK, I'm comparing with other stores in Canada and other parts of Canada.

I spend a lot on pharmacy stuff because of medical problems, it is worth shopping around. And it's not just about saving money either, different stores have different things. I find Sobey's has a better choice of potato chips for example, at least my local one does as they carry chips made by a local manufacturer, but I wouldn't shop there for most things as they're way more expensive than Loblaw's.

I don't think we're comparing the same thing, I'm talking about the US gallon/3.78 litre jugs.

You dont have kids, so you wouldnt get it.. I buy Four of the 4l 3 pack bags of milk a week Any saving adds up, although I draw the line at store hopping and coupon clipping.

Besides, for people with average incomes why the hell would you spend more than you have to?

Thanks everyone for your posts. I'm certainly not complaining, we feel very blessed to be out here living this life. However, like Iaink says, I have 2 small kids and I just wanted to make sure I wasn't being unnecessarily frivolous, for all I knew Loblaws could've been the m & s of Canada and although I would prob do a shop there once a month back in the uk, it's not somewhere I would go to do my weekly big shop. Thanks again everyone. Xx

No I was talking about this:

Cheapest I've seen lately is $7.49. Those little jugs are a total ripoff. I thought $7.49 was a ripoff frankly.
