Arrrrrgh!!!!! can't believe how time flies,sent our paperwork off 3 &half years ago (fed skilled worker), we fly out in 11 days!!! to calgary then will be living inLeduc just outside edmonton!! soooo xited but also v nervous too, our kids 8 & 5 seem to be great about it but then we'll have a few bouts of nautiness and tears??!!?
we are exhausted if not feeling very popular as all friends and family are wanting to go out for meals etc all the time with us!!!!! have lists everywhere as to what we're taking etc n immigration n then buying car etc etc argggh my head feels like its going to explode!!!!!!! xiting though!!

Yep! know that feeling that your head is going to explode.....I was was/am making lists of lists We have already landed and are currently back in the UK finalizing the shipping etc and will be back in Canada on the 13th of September, at the moment we are going through every emotion possible, excitement, panic, happiness, sadness....and the omg what the hell are we doing...followed by .......I can't wait to get started.......but most of all it's excitement and a general feeling of knackerdness from all the running around

Be assured you're not alone. We felt exactly the same, with lists all over the house, reminders, endless phone calls and letters, etc, all the time wondering if we had done everything and had we forgotten to do something essential...

Now we've been in Canada just over a month, and there are still lots to sort out - we've almost completed buying our house (which is MUCH quicker than in the UK, by the way), which will allow us to buy a car; we're busy looking for work, etc - but I don't regret our decision for a second.

Watching a film about Canada on Parliament Hill, and learning about the country's history, made me realise that now we are Canadian, and not British. No, we're not citizens yet, just residents, but I no longer call the UK "back home" - home is here, and all the effort to get here (and boy, was it an effort!) was worth it.

We don't expect it to be easy, or perfect, but whatever hurdles we have to jump through, we are determined to make the best life we can as new Canadians.
