Just wondering - why does ON and QC not honour remembrance day with a public holiday like the rest of Canada?

Public holidays in Canada vary Province to Province. If you have faith in Wikipedia go to the following for a detailed explanation of each Province's holidays.

Although not an official statutory holiday in Nova Scotia, everyone I know is getting the day off. All the stores will be closed in New Glasgow too.

It is a holiday if you work for the Government of any Federally regulated industry like banks etc. My wife gets it off via the bank, but as my company is retail based they are open every day but Christmas so only stats are doable thanks to the law.

Its not a holiday for the serving soldiers all over the world especially the troops in Afghan and Iraq. Neither is it a holiday for those who paid the ultimate price for our freedom!

Hmm it's a holiday here, but the majority of people I know see it as another day off rather than a day of remembrance. Quite a few seemed to have yesterday off too, and just had a 4-day jolly! All the schools were off yesterday. If I can manage it I hope to be somewhere quiet up in the mountains by 11am .... I'd like that.
